Experience Minnesota at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities will host an open house on November 10, 2012 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Prospective students will learn about majors, student life, and financial aid and scholarships.  You will also explore student cultural centers such as the La Raza Student cultural center, Black student union, Asian-American student union and the American Indian Student cultural center.  You will tour the campus, meet current U of M students and see a step performance by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  You will also have the option to complete an application and the college will waive the fee if completed that day.
Today, a college representative from Iowas State University will be in the CRC at 12:15.  Tomorrow at representative from MN School of Cosmetology will be here at 9 a.m. and a representative from the University of Missouri will be here tomorrow as well at 10:45 a.m.  Come to the CRC to get a pass.

Wastebasket Revue Scholarships applications available in the CRC.  Deadline is February 16th.  Osseo Area Retired Educators' Scholarship is due March 22, 2011.  Flora Rogge Scholarship is due by March 23, 2011 at the at the Education Minnesota - Osseo office at 10200 73rd Avenue No. #126, Maple Grove, MN 55369.  Come to the CRC to a copy.

Stossel in the Classroom essay contest

Simply  view John Stossel's recent special, "Politicians' Top 10 Promises Gone Wrong" (view the streaming video here), and write an essay on the following Essay Topic:
Why do you think politicians make promises? When they try to keep them, why are there often unintended consequences? Describe a promise made by a current politician or political candidate from any party, and discuss whether or not he/she will be able to keep that promise and what, if any, are some potential unintended consequences from that promise. Please use at least one example from the Stossel special or other Stossel report to support your response.
Essay deadline is February 6, 2012.
